SAS protocol and peripheral engineers for electronic gaming machines

We are a Mexico City team with more than 10 years in the casino industry. We integrate the SAS (Slot Accounting System) protocol, TITO printers, bill validators, button decks and touchscreens into electronic gaming machines, ready for GLI certification, and we can run several fronts at once: protocol, peripherals and certification. We work nearshore in US and Canadian time zones.

What we do

SAS protocol (EGM side)

SAS (Slot Accounting System) on the machine: general polls, long polls, events and exceptions, meters, TITO, AFT, progressives, handpays and legacy bonusing, with the casino management system as host.

TITO ticket printers

JCM GEN5 and TransAct Epic 950 thermal printer integration: voucher printing, paper states, jams and error recovery without losing a ticket.

Bill validators

JCM iVIZION and JCM UBA integration: bill and ticket acceptance, fault handling and reconciliation with the machine meters.

Button decks, touch and peripherals

Button decks, touchscreens, player card readers, Cherry door switches and tower lights, wired into the game logic through the same event flow.

NVRAM and recovery

Credits, meters and events persisted in NVRAM, exact state recovery after a power loss, and the RAM clear procedure.

Hardened Windows IoT and Linux

Locked-down, read-only machine OS as labs require. On EGMs we worked with Windows IoT; with Linux we have years on servers and production systems.

Math and RNG

Game math engine: RNG, RTP and PAR sheets, ready for lab review under GLI-11.

Jackpots and progressives

SAS progressives, handpays, legacy bonusing and communication with floor jackpot consoles and controllers.

GAT authentication

GAT implementation so labs and regulators can verify the signatures of the software installed on the machine.

Audit

Operator audit menus, meters, event log and game recall of the last plays.

GLI certification

Game software ready for the lab: we took an EGM platform through GLI certification for the USA and Canada.

Platform modernization

Splitting a monolithic game server into independent services and replacing physical hard drive swaps with automated Docker deployments.

Production experience

Among our projects: decomposing a monolithic game server into 6 microservices (game orchestrator, math engine, wallet, jackpots, printer and bill validator) on an event-driven architecture.

Software in production on more than 1,200 physical machines, expansion to online casinos and GLI certification for the USA and Canada. Tested against WinSystems, Konami and IGT casino systems. Deployments that went from swapping hard drives by hand to automated Docker containers.

How we work

Hourly consulting

SAS communication diagnostics, peripheral integration reviews, GLI preparation and focused protocol questions.

Fixed-scope project

One concrete integration with defined scope, deliverables and date.

Long-term engagement

We join your engineering team for the gaming platform, for months or years.

FAQ

What is the SAS protocol?
SAS (Slot Accounting System) is the protocol created by IGT that electronic gaming machines (EGMs) use to report meters, events, TITO tickets and progressives to the casino management system. It is the de facto industry standard.
Why work with SAS developers in Mexico?
We work from Mexico City in the same time zones as the US and Canada, with nearshore rates and production experience on GLI-certified machines. Clients can be manufacturers, game studios or operators anywhere.
Which SAS features have you implemented?
On the machine (EGM) side: general polls and long polls, events and exceptions, meters, TITO ticket validation and printing, AFT transfers, progressives, handpays and legacy bonusing.
Which printers and bill validators have you worked with?
JCM GEN5 and TransAct Epic 950 thermal printers, and JCM iVIZION and JCM UBA bill validators, plus button decks and touchscreens.
Can you help with GLI certification?
Yes. We prepared game software and its peripheral integration for GLI certification in the USA and Canada: math and RNG under GLI-11, hardened Windows IoT and GAT authentication.
What is GAT on gaming machines?
GAT (Game Authentication Terminal) is the GLI protocol that lets a lab or regulator ask the machine for its software signatures and confirm it runs exactly the certified version.
What happens to EGM credits during a power loss?
A well-built machine keeps credits, meters and the game state in NVRAM, and recovers exactly where it was when power returns. Designing and testing that persistence is part of what we do.
Do you take long-term contracts?
Yes. Besides hourly consulting and fixed-scope projects, we work with clients continuously as part of their engineering team.
